Kamranga Makha Curry

Authentic Odia chutney prepared with star fruit


  • 2 -3 ripe Star fruits, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • Pinch of Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pancha phutana (5 spices mix)
  • 1 -2 dry Red chilies
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafetida
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar


  1. Heat oil. Fry asafetida, dry red chilies, panch phutana and curry leaves.
  2. Add star fruit and saute for few minutes.
  3. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder and a cup of water. Mix well and bring to a boil.
  4. Add sugar and allow it to dissolve.
  5. Serve Kamranga makha curry with rice.
